Brain is released from court a free man. Though he knew of his own innocence, no one else believed him. They accused him of unspeakable crimes. They found him in a lab, and was convinced he was creating weapons of destruction and murder. They were convinced that he killed a woman who they'd recently discovered dead.
Eventually, he finally decides to return to his labatory. There had to be some way of proving his innocence- or even finding the real killer. He pulled out a large sheet of paper, and wondered what happened that night. Thats when the idea struck him, as clear as day. He would create a machine that could assess a crime scene, figure out it's patten and sequal of events that lead to the murder. Then, have it played on a screen of the most probable scenario that lead to the victim's death. It'd work like following someone's footsteps.
After his break through, he asks the police to escort him back to the crime scene where the body was found; so they could try out his machine. The machine shows a struggle, leading to the victims death- falling straight into the corner of the fire place. Pleased at his work, they re-open the investigation. They ask to use the machine again, he declines. He tells them that they don't deserve to use it. They reluctantly decided to allow Brain to assist. He agrees.
